About Molly
Molly Shakar, BSN, RN, IBCLC, is the founder and owner of Best Beginnings and has worked in Tallahassee for over 25 years helping new families along their breastfeeding journeys.

Molly received her Bachelor's in Science of Nursing (BSN) from Florida State University in 1989 and her certification from UCLA's Lactation Education Extension Program. In 1991, she was certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and has since been re-certified in 2001.
Molly worked for 19 years at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital as a staff nurse in the postpartum and nursery department. Advocating on behalf of breastfeeding families, and with the support of the hospital administration, she created and developed the Lactation Program in 1988. As the lead Lactation Consultant at TMH, Molly was involved in staff education, consulting with physicans, and teaching & facilitating breastfeeding classes.
Molly had the passion to help breastfeeding families and was always sending them somewhere else. She thought it would be nice if there was one central location for breastfeeding information in the North Florida/South Georgia region. She then founded Best Beginnings in 2000.
Molly and her husband have raised 3 children, now grown, in the Tallahassee area.
Currently, Molly is contracted through Capital Regional Medical Center as a IBCLC where she helps new breastfeeding families.
