“Music trains the brain for higher forms of thinking.”
BEFORE KINDERGARTEN, MUSIKGARTEN!
Internationally acclaimed early childhood music program.
Music Time for Babies (birth to 15 months)
Play musically with your baby & child through bouncing and rocking songs, wiggle and peek-a-boo games, dancing, moving and singing. Musical play activities are developmentally appropriate and designed to increase your child’s curiosity about music, to develop listening skills and a sense of beat, and to establish the foundation for singing and musical thought. Participate with your baby in singing, chanting, moving, dancing, listening, and playing simple instruments – while developing a strong musical bond with your child. Through activities that bridge the natural connection between music and movement, your child’s musical aptitude is enhanced and developed. Classes meet thirty minutes once a week for 8 weeks and are limited to 10 students. This curriculum is non- sequential and can be taken in any order. Materials include a parent guide, CD of songs and rhymes and an instrument pouch containing rhythm sticks, a rattle, and a scarf. This instrument pouch must be brought to class every week. Siblings are welcome.
Family Music for Toddlers (15 months to age 3)
Designed to nurture perceptual learning, the non-sequential program for toddlers furthers musical development and provides rich music experiences in an environment that strengthens the bonding of parent and child. Continue on your journey of musical exploration, dancing, moving, singing and playing games, promoting music literacy as a foundation for future musical study. Classes meet 35 minutes once a week for 8 weeks and are limited to 8 students. Home Materials include a parent guide and a CD, featuring many of the curriculum’s themes, songs, and sounds, for singing and listening at home. The materials also include either a small rhythm instrument or a bright scarf. Siblings are welcome.
Family Music Evenings (birth to age 5)
This curriculum is designed for families that want to experience their musical journey together. It is a hybrid of the Babies and Toddler curriculum and developmentally appropriate activities are designed to further musical learning. Classes meet 35 minutes once a week for 8 weeks and are limited to 8 students. It is recommended that each child have a parent or caregiver who participates fully in all activities. Family Music Evenings has the added benefit that you can bring your child in pajamas, ready to go to sleep once you get home.
God’s Children Sing (birth to 5)
This beautiful curriculum based on Judeo-Christian faith also nurtures perceptual and holistic learning. Many of the activities in this curriculum are a continuation of what has been learned in Babies & Toddlers. Previous participation in Babies or Toddlers is not required. A parent or caregiver who participates fully in all activities must accompany each child. Classes meet 35 minutes once a week for 8 weeks and are limited to 10 students. Materials include a CD of songs, stories and listening games, and a parent book. Siblings are welcome.
“Scholars now realize that babies/children learn music in the same way that they learn language, therefore, by examining how we learn the language of our culture we learn what are appropriate early childhood musical experiences.”
